Heavy snowfall in the upper regions of the Pakistan, including Murree, roads closed , 2 people die

The Kozhik Top area recorded an unusual increase in the intensity of cold due to strong Siberian winds, where the temperature on the N-25 Chaman-Quetta-Karachi National Highway reached minus 12 degrees Celsius. Due to severe slippage on the road near Shilabagh, several vehicles collided with each other, resulting in the loss of two lives and the injury of seven others. The first snowfall of the winter season is underway in Quetta.

Meanwhile, heavy snowfall continued in various upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mansehra, Upper Galiyat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Kalam, Orakzai, Chitral and Khyber. About a hundred vehicles were stranded at different places due to rain and snowfall in the Tirah Valley of Khyber district, however, 35 people were safely shifted to safe places during the rescue operation.

Power supply system was badly affected after heavy snowfall in Shangla, while in Chitral, several connecting roads were closed due to snowfall, disrupting traffic.

Due to continuous snowfall in Murree, Murree Expressway has been partially closed for general traffic.

So far, about six inches of snowfall has been recorded in the tourist destination of Naran, while one and a half inches have been recorded in Shogran. After the snowfall in Shogran, a large number of tourists are visiting the area to enjoy this beautiful view.

Snowfall in Chilas, Babusar Top, Nanga Parbat, Batugah, Dareel and Tangir has also turned the weather colder. Rain fell in different parts of Azad Kashmir, while intermittent snowfall continues in the upper areas including Hattian Bala, Chinari, Chakothi, Lipa Valley, Ganga Choti, Urang Kel, Grace and Sargan Valley.

On the other hand, two to three feet of snow has accumulated in the upper areas of Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan, as a result of which all the upper areas have been cut off from land and the residents have been confined to their homes. Snowfall also continued in Hunza and Nagar, while the victims living in tents in the earthquake-hit Chipursan area are facing additional difficulties due to severe cold and snowfall. On the other hand, intermittent rains are continuing in many parts of the country including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which has made the weather even colder.
